• What are the features of a Safer Recruitment process and how do you ensure it is in place in you team/organisation?
• Ensuring Equal opportunity Employment regulations are followed throughout.
• Maintaining on-going vigilance with all employees in a supportive manner.

• Understand how Safer Recruitment fits in the wider context of safeguarding
• Show knowledge of the prevalence and profile of employees who abuse and how they operate within organisations.
• Know how to put together an effective applicant information pack, including a job description and safeguarding statement.
• Know what to look for when shortlisting candidates.
• Understand how to contact referees and know what is needed from a reference.
• Know how to successfully interview candidates.
• Understand what is involved in the pre-appointment checks, including DBS checks, before a candidate can start work.
• Understand the importance of a thorough staff induction process, setting acceptable standards of behaviour, safeguarding training and ongoing vigilance.
