Who is it for?

This course is intended for managers within the Housing and Modernisation Department only.

The course is for those within the housing department who manage staff and have a responsibility to implement corporate and departmental health and safety policies and procedures.

What does it cover?

This one day training session is made up of two modules.

The first explains the Council’s corporate and departmental health and safety management systems and re-iterates the roles and responsibilities of managers in implementing them.

The second focuses on the involvement of managers in the risk assessment process: arrangements for generic hazards as well as specific risks regarding use of DSE’s, lone working, new and expectant mothers, and management of work related stress.

What are the course outcomes?

1) Awareness of Council’s corporate and departmental health and safety management systems

2) Awareness of key area of health and safety responsibilities

3) An understanding of the process of risk assessment in order to identify hazards and to control risks

4) Awareness of the applicable divisional health and safety procedures including incident investigation, DSE, lone working, work related stress etc.
