Who is it for?

This course is aimed at those staff and volunteers in any agency across Southwark and have little or no knowledge of domestic abuse, but may in the course of their work, come into contact with members of the public who may have experienced, or could be experiencing domestic abuse.

  • Assessing risk and the MARAC


What are the course outcomes?

 Participants will be able to ...

  • Identify domestic abuse and gain knowledge of its prevalence
  • Understand its impact on victims/survivors and their children
  • Understand why some people stay in abusive relationships
  • Identify models of good practice in working with victims/survivor relationships
  • Have increased awareness of the services provided by Solace Women’s Aid in Southwark and how to refer service users.
  • This session meets elements of the Knowledge & Skills for child and family social work: 4.Adult mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, physical ill health and disability

Good introduction to the issues surrounding DV. Good knowledge based course.

This was a very insightful course. I feel I am much more informed about DV than before the course. That's the point right!

Useful and insightful

The course was amazingly insightful and I left feeling like I had learnt a lot about the nature of domestic abuse. Very well delivered and now feel inspired to sign up to the Champions Training course in the same subject.
